    Israeli Police officers assaulted, on Saturday evening, October 31st, a Palestinian priest from I’billin village in the Galilee.

    Palestinian Archbishop of Sebastia from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Theodosius Atallah Hanna, strongly denounced the Israeli attack on the Father Saba al-Hajja, while he was trying to resolve a conflict between two members of the Church.

    He added that Father Saba was assaulted by the police who arrived at the scene, although he was just trying to resolve a conflict to contain it and prevent any further escalation.

    “We strongly denounce these violations targeting religious leaders, especially while they are just trying to resolve conflicts and prevent escalation,” Father Atallah Hanna stated, “Priests and spiritual leaders play a vital role in bringing peace to their communities and should not be treated this way.”

  • Israeli Police Abducts A Senior Palestinian Leftist Leader In Arraba
    Nov 2, 2020 – – IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/israeli-police-abducts-a-senior-palestinian-leftist-leader-in-arraba

    Israeli police officers invaded, on Monday at dawn, the home of Mohammad As’ad Kana’na , a senior political leader of Abnaa’ el-Balad secular movement in Arraba town, in the Lower Galilee, and abducted him.

    Abnaa’ el-Balad (Sons and Daughters of the Country) Movement said the police stormed the home of Mohammad As’ad Kana’na, and detained him, before moving him to an interrogation facility.

    The movement denounced the abduction and said the move comes to silence all voices expressing solidarity with the hunger-striking Palestinian detainee, Maher al-Akhras , who is ongoing with the strike which started 100 days ago, despite his deteriorating health condition.

    On its part, the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel said, “the abduction of comrade Kana’na from his home is part of a series of arrests and interrogations he was subjected to over the past several years.”

    The head of the Follow-Up Committee Mohammad Baraka said that the current detention and interrogation of Kana’na is directly related to his solidarity activities, along with As’ad Manasra, in support of al-Akhras, especially since the Committee is planning a protest in front of Kaplan Medical Center where al-Akhras is hospitalized as he continuous his strike and refuses medications despite his seriously deteriorating health condition.

    Baraka stated that the Committee and other political factions stand in support of Kana’na, despite the Israeli violations and arrests.

  • Palestinian poet Dareen Tatour imprisoned again [Samidoun : Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, 25 juillet]

    http://samidoun.net/2016/07/palestinian-poet-dareen-tatour-imprisoned-again

    Dareen Tatour, a Palestinian citizen of Israel, was imprisoned for three months followed by over six months of house arrest over “incitement” allegations based on her poetry, posted online in a YouTube video and shared on Facebook. She was forced into house arrest near Tel Aviv far from her village of Reineh; her brother and sister in law needed to drop work and school in order to serve as “guards” 24/7, and she is forbidden from access to the internet. Tatour must wear an electronic ankle bracelet at all times. Her case has received increasing attention and solidarity, and the support of hundreds of prominent international literary figures such as Alice Walker, Eve Ensler, Marilyn Hacker, Viet Thanh Nguyen, Dave Eggers, Susan Abulhawa, and many others. Her case, one of hundreds of Palestinians facing arrest and imprisonment for writing on Facebook, has sparked outrage and highlighted the long history of Israeli colonial erasure of Palestinian cultural production, from the assassination of Ghassan Kanafani to the imprisonment of Mahmoud Darwish, Tawfiq Ziyyad, and Samih al-Qasim.

    • Le poème pour lequel elle a été mise en prison:

      Resist, My People, Resist Them
      Dareen Tatour, 2015

      Resist, my people, resist them.
      In Jerusalem, I dressed my wounds and breathed my sorrows
      And carried the soul in my palm
      For an Arab Palestine.
      I will not succumb to the “peaceful solution,”
      Never lower my flags
      Until I evict them from my land.
      I cast them aside for a coming time.
      Resist, my people, resist them.
      Resist the settler’s robbery
      And follow the caravan of martyrs.
      Shred the disgraceful constitution
      Which imposed degradation and humiliation
      And deterred us from restoring justice.
      They burned blameless children;
      As for Hadil, they sniped her in public,
      Killed her in broad daylight.
      Resist, my people, resist them.
      Resist the colonialist’s onslaught.
      Pay no mind to his agents among us
      Who chain us with the peaceful illusion.
      Do not fear doubtful tongues;
      The truth in your heart is stronger,
      As long as you resist in a land
      That has lived through raids and victory.
      So Ali called from his grave:
      Resist, my rebellious people.
      Write me as prose on the agarwood;
      My remains have you as a response.
      Resist, my people, resist them.
      Resist, my people, resist them.

    • Résiste, Mon Peuple, Résiste leur
      Dareen Tatour, 2015
      http://entrelesoreilles.blogspot.ca/2016/09/elo246-dareen-tatour.html

      Résiste, mon peuple, résiste leur.
      A Jérusalem, je me suis habillée de mes blessures et j’ai respiré mes douleurs
      Et j’ai porté l’âme dans ma paume
      Pour une Palestine arabe.

      Je ne succomberai pas à la « solution pacifique »
      Je ne baisserai pas mes drapeaux
      Jusqu’à ce que je les expulse de ma terre.
      Je les ai mis de côté pour un moment qui va venir.

      Résiste, mon peuple, résiste leur.
      Résiste au vol du colon
      Et suis la caravane des martyrs.

      Déchire cette constitution honteuse
      Qui a imposé dégradation et humiliation
      Et nous a dissuadé de rétablir la justice.

      Ils ont brûlé des enfants innocents ;
      Quant à Hadil, ils l’ont abattue en public,
      Tuée en plein jour.

      Résiste, mon peuple, résiste leur.
      Résiste à l’assaut du colonialiste.
      Ne fais pas attention à ses agents qui sont parmi nous
      Qui nous enchaînent avec l’illusion pacifique.

      Ne crains pas les langues qui doutent ;
      La vérité dans ton cœur est plus forte,
      Tant que tu résiste sur une terre
      Qui a vécu les raids et la victoire.

      Alors Ali a appelé depuis sa tombe :
      Résiste, mon peuple rebelle.
      Écris-moi comme de la prose sur le bois d’agar ;
      Mes restes vous ont comme une réponse.

      Résiste, mon peuple, résiste leur.
      Résiste, mon peuple, résiste leur.
